Black Loam is a very black screened soil with a peaty texture. Best used for top dressing for seeding lawns as it holds moisture and has very little weed growth. You can use Black Loam to loosen heavy soil. Also it is often used as a top dressing for flower gardens to give a dark look if you have chosen not to use mulch. Mulch is always your best choice for weed control.
